The Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences [GSBS] is one of five schools of the UT Health Science Center designated as an Hispanic-Serving Institution by the U.S. Department of Education. The GSBS was established in 1972 and today has an enrollment of over 600 graduate students in our academic programs with 73% domestic, 27% international and 24% from underrepresented minorities. The main campus is located on more than 100 acres in the South Texas Medical Center. About a mile from the main campus is the University’s 30-acre Greehey Academic and Research Campus. Additionally, approximately 25 minutes away, is the 160-acre Texas Research Park Campus, where the Institute for Biotechnology, the South Texas Center for Biology and Medicine, and the Sam and Ann Barshop Institute for Longevity and Aging Studies are located. The GSBS is the only recognized academic component at the Health Science Center for granting masters, doctoral, and dual-degree professional degrees in the following areas:

Allied Health Sciences
Biomedical Engineering (joint program with UTSA)
Clinical Investigation
Advanced Dental Programs
Dual-degree (MD/PhD and DDS/PhD)
Integrated Multidisciplinary Graduate Program (IMGP)
MD Residency/PhD
Molecular Medicine
Nursing
Radiological Sciences
